Liverpool launches Capital of Culture year
Liverpool's tenure as European Capital of Culture is finally underway. Throughout
2008, the city will host a profusion of events and festivals promoting Liverpool's
culture and famous history.
The Capital of Culture title will serve as an opportunity to draw attention to
Liverpool's renowned architecture, music, arts, literature, and sporting
heritage. Among the hundreds of events that will take place throughout the
coming year, some of the most eagerly anticipated will include
"The People's Opening" at St. George's Hall, the
"Tall Ships' Races" at the Albert Dock, and the performance of
Sir Simon Rattle's Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra at the Philharmonic Hall.
People from all over the world are already flocking to Liverpool, to enjoy the
friendly local atmosphere, and to appreciate the city's rich and varied culture.
Formed 10 years ago in the city and based here ever since, Crosby Communications
