MMS capabilities extended
Crosby have increased their MMS capabilities massively by adding an MMSC to their network
today. Crosby have created their own MMSC that operates within their network to deliver pictures,
ringtones, photos, and other media directly
to mobile handsets.
Steven Wilson TD of Crosby says "There has been a lot of pressure
on the operators from services providers over the last 12 months to get MMS working,
however we still don't see any signs of them opening up their networks to create an
MMSC, so simply we built one ourselves.
"This allows Crosby's customers to operate MMS with reverse billing on all
tariffs and soon with MT billing hopefully to be launched next month so content
over MMS can be billed using the SMS platforms."
Crosby Broadcasting, a sister organisation, have also launched an MMS to screen
applications to offer the service providers with Sky channels to offer
a service to its viewers were a photo can be taken from say a Nokia 7650 and within 10
seconds that photo is on a live TV channel for millions to see. Crosby provide
themselves on this platform and hope to see this in the commercial market within the
next few months.
