Crosby product meets new ICSTIS regulations
Following its recent investigation into premium rate audience participation services, phone
watchdog ICSTIS has published a set of
new regulations for TV Quiz shows, in an attempt to restore viewer confidence. These
measures will come into effect on Wednesday 2nd May 2007.
One of the most significant new rules requires phone-in programmes to display a viewer's
chances of successfully getting beyond the first stage of entry on-screen at all times.
The regulation stipulates that:
"The chances of acceptance or rejection of an attempt by a viewer to get beyond the
first stage must be shown on screen in near real-time. This will be achieved as a minimum by
a prominent and permanently visible stand-alone display (whether static, crawling or
scrolling) showing the total number of entries (paid and free) to the service in the
preceding 15–minute period. This must be updated at no more than 10–minute
intervals."
Crosby announced today that its Television Audience Participation System (TAPS) has already
been upgraded in accordance with the new ICSTIS standards, and now enables TV companies to
automatically generate and display real–time information and statistics relating to a
caller's chances of getting through to any stage of a competition.
