Crosby provides advice live on Magic Radio
The Directors of Crosby were invited onto the Northwest Radio
Station Magic1548 live on air for a late night phone in. Matthew and
Steven Wilson gave advice to callers regarding network security, viruses
and the damages that can be suffered to businesses and individuals from
them.
Matthew Wilson, M.D., of Crosby said "Magic1548 asked us to come in
and talk live on air regarding issues with viruses and network security,
generally giving advice to listeners of the station. We were pleased to
take live calls from listeners who rang in, which was not only a good
advert for our company, it warned people of the dangers of viruses."
Steven Wilson, T.D., of Crosby explained "our advice tied in well,
as while the show was on air Sky News reported of the 'Sobig virus'
causing widespread damage to computers around the world.
"The virus is contracted by opening the attachment it carries which is
labelled to make people think it is an innocent screen saver or configuration
file and the virus tries to fool people into opening it by regularly changing
its subject line and the name of the attachment. Anyone receiving lots of
copies of the virus will see an inbox filled with messages bearing very
similar subject lines."
What may have helped 'Sobig F' spread is the fact that it can be hard
for people to be sure they are infected as the virus carries its own
e–mail sending program and does not use Outlook to dispatch infected mail.
Only those monitoring their net connection will notice an increase in
traffic but net browsing could slow down for anyone unknowingly sending
out lots of infected e–mail messages.
The 'Sobig F' virus has caused problems even for those people who are
virus aware.
