Crosby Launch Directory Enquiries service

In 2003 Oftel deregulated the Directory Enquiries service, a market previously operated only by BT, known to everyone as 192. Many companies were then rapidly set up in order to compete with BT.

Today, Crosby run by two brothers, Matt and Steven Wilson, have launched their own directory enquiries service. This operates under the number 118 502 and is available 24 hours a day, calls from a landline cost 50p per minute at all times, calls from mobiles may vary according to the service provider.

Matt Wilson, Managing Director says, "The Crosby product is aimed at providing a more personal, friendly and helpful service to customers, answered in an existing, local call centre by professional operators. We do not offer facilities such as call connect which can create large, unexpected phone bills for companies, but a professional, trustworthy service. He adds that his operators will be able to find numbers for local restaurants, florists, tyre centres, etc., and even opening times of many local facilities. The unique selling point of our service is that, although available throughout the UK, we hold a great deal of local information, with regular database checks ensuring an accurate and trusted service which is less impersonal."

Steven Wilson Technical Director says, "By using our existing infrastructure it was a relatively, effortless task to set up a directory enquiries product due to the previous investment we made some 18 months ago. This is a natural progression for our call centre which has been operating in Crosby, Liverpool for over 6 years. With the advent of this new service we hope to create at least 15 new jobs within the next 12 months in the local area."
