Senior Sales Manager


£35000 - £70000 per annum + £65,500 Base per annum uncapped OTE plus an excellent benefits package. Typical earnings £120,000 to £160,000 (based on 06/07 results) + company bonus scheme (linked to profits)



Job description


Reporting to the Managing Director; the Senior Sales Manager will deliver all new customer acquisitions through indirect channels. Planning, Lead, create and deliver a 3 year Sales Strategic Plan covering all routes to market. This includes the following:
  • Spearheading the development of accounts existing, new and innovative routes to market
  • Re-engineer our go-to-market strategies as we transform into other markets
  • Create selling propositions, tailor-mades & drive the promotion of our increasing range of products
  • Do whatever it takes to hit the targets, and manage this across all touch points coherently
  • Optimise and develop company-wide commercial relationships with our selling partners
  • Develop accounts so that they deliver and increase in profitability over time
  • Lead the negotiations and agreement for new business opportunities
  • Develop your team so that you have a powerful no. 2 opening up future opportunities for yourself
  • Inspire, motivate and challenge the team to stretch and grow to higher performance levels
  • Play a leadership role and customer champion throughout the business becoming a company asset
  • Lead the development of the joint Sales distribution strategy and plan

Until now the company has been led by the founding director and sales success has been based on knowledge, reputation, and a strong delivery capability. The time is now right to recruit a Senior Sales Manager to spearhead our ambitious growth plans.

It should be fully understood that, after initial familiarisation with the systems, the Senior Sales Manager appointed will lead from the front in sales negotiations with corporate prospects then build a sales team to manage the anticipated growth. The aim is to create a sustainable track record of growth that will enhance the value of the business – in which staff participate through a stock option programme.

While an active marketing programme is in place to generate quality leads, the new Senior Sales Manager will play a leading role in enhancing this as a cost-effective function. While the successful candidate should become very knowledgeable on the range of business processes and solutions, they will be supported by the director when needed. Their main task will be to orchestrate sales by developing and maintaining relationships with key decision makers in the target accounts and manage their expectations throughout the sales cycle.

The role calls for an ability to grasp and understand business processes, underlying needs and priorities of those involved in the buying process. Building sales revenue, creating quality client relationships and overall contribution to the success of the business are key areas for performance measurement.



Qualifications/Experience required:


  • Five years experience selling to Blue chip organisations.
  • A proven track record of consistently exceeding sales target.
  • Experience of negotiation at board level making high value sales
  • The ability to research businesses and sales opportunities coupled with strong presentation and communication skills, PC literacy, strong planning and time management skills and a strong concern for order and quality.
  • You will need a creative mind to think through the increasing challenges, great commercial sense (business planning skills and analytics) to seek out profitable opportunities great people skills for the Accounts and your team
  • Have led a similar size team before and managed the scale of responsibility the role requires
  • Have worked in a dynamic and fast moving/changing environment, which is results focused and outcome driven
  • Will be degree educated to develop the strategic thinking and planning, but on-the-job experience counts for more
  • Will have great commercial nous, both numerate and analytical, be a powerful communicator both for negotiations and team leadership.
  • Be an innovator always striving to find the next edge with real customer passion.
