However, enabling your audience to interact with a live broadcast can pose a number of
problems. Whether they're phoning in to join a debate, or just offer their thoughts on a
football match, getting callers on and off the air efficiently can often be a challenge.
With conventional systems, callers may be forced to wait on hold for long periods of time.
This often results in them becoming frustrated and hanging up, never to call again.
Crosby "Studio Text Call" eliminates this problem by allowing clients to text the
studio with a "keyword" (chosen by you), in order that they be called back by the
station at a more convenient time. At this time our system will automatically call both the
caller and the studio simultaneously, connecting the two lines.

How does it work?
- We provide you with a "keyword" of your choosing (this could be your
station's name, or the name of a programme/presenter), and a 5–digit shortcode.

Your presenter(s) will instruct viewers that to get on the air, they simply need to text
the keyword to the shortcode, and then wait for a call from the station.

Crosby's system automatically calls both the texter and your main studio number at the
same time, connecting the two lines and putting the texter on hold (giving them the
impression that you have called them directly). We can play promotional information, music
or presenter messages while the texter is waiting to be connected to your studio.

When ready, you complete the connection, putting the texter on the air, just as you would
have done had they called in directly. The only difference is that they get the impression
that it was you who rang them.

Premium Billing:
If you want to charge your viewers/listeners for each time they are called back, you can
implement a premium billing service, whereby they will be charged a preset amount (specified
by you) from which you will receive a share of the revenue.

Alternatively, operate a free text number instead (available with most networks), allowing
your listeners or viewers to text in for free, with your company picking up the bill.

Ongoing costs: 20p per minute during peak times. 10p per minute off peak (for all UK mobile
networks).
Calls are charged on a per second basis. Cost per min is to UK mobile telephone networks only
(Vodafone, 02, T–Mobile, Orange, Virgin and Three). For pricing for other numbers/
destinations please contact our sales team. Peak rate is defined as 08:00hrs to 18:00hrs
